How to save and protect penguins (Research Paper)

Our adorable penguins are disappearing now. My research paper is about penguins. I chose penguins for my research because they have become endangered. Currently our climate has changed, and the biggest reason is global warming. It pushes penguins to die. Now, a lot of pollution makes global warming and global warming makes the temperatures get warm. And global warming makes the sea temperatures become high until some creatures cannot live in there, and makes the sea ice melt. Therefore, penguins cannot live in their ecosystem anymore. They have to find other land to live on or go to extinction. A century ago, a lot of penguins lived, waddled, and swam to some islands. “There were almost 120,000 penguins who lived in our world and they could live very well.”(Wines, M. 2007.) In the past there was a large number of these animals in our world. And penguins had a lot of different colonies in our world; some were African penguins, Gentoo penguins or Antarctic penguins. Now our society has a lot of developed technology and scientific stuff to use, so we make a lot of pollution in our world. It causes global warming and affects penguins’ lives, so penguins become less and less in our world, and fishing, hunting, and commercialism are also problems. Our experts have found this problem, so now government has begun to protect penguins. They are doing some things like cutting greenhouse gases to protect penguins, because they want penguins to survive in our world.

Our adorable penguins are going to extinction because of global warming. It is caused by too many reasons, so people should save and protect penguins to be alive. Therefore, to save our adorable penguins we can do these methods. We can find a new home for penguins, we should ban some artificial activity that will push penguins to die and we have to do some solution to prevent and reduce global warming, to stop global warming from pushing penguins to die.

First, we can find a new home for penguins. Now, penguins are becoming extinct, because they have no place that can offer them a home, so finding a new place is important, so we can find new places that have abundant resources, and food that can be provided for penguins. Then, we can offer artificial security care to care for penguins and make a new place where no external factors will cause penguins to die. Another thing we also can do is to take care of young penguins during the time when the penguins don't have a good immunity against high temperature. Here are some solutions said “predator control, protection of habitat and food supply”(RoguePundit, 2006, par.5). Now we have already had some home for penguins. That is Quality housing for blue penguins. “This kind of nest box design illustrated on the right has been used to accommodate blue penguins in areas where suitable nest sites have not been available”(blue penguin). And now we also have the monitoring program to protect penguins’ habitat that is for monitor penguin nesting habitat. According to these solution find a new home for penguins is also an important way to save penguins.

Second, we should ban some artificial activity which will pushes penguins to die. These kinds of artificial activity also have a big effect to push penguins to die because fishing is cutting supplies for penguins’ main food. Zoologists at the University of Washington and Foundation Patagonia Natural in Argentina say, “Today in the journal Science that uncontrolled fishing would be disastrous for wildlife in the region.” These effects could disrupt ecosystem function, other fisheries and ecotourism. Therefore, we should ban people from doing commercial fishing, harvesting, and hunting. And we should ban people’s importing of penguins and exporting of alien species that will cause penguins to become extinct.

Third, we have to do some solution to prevent and reduce global warming to stop global warming from pushing penguins to die. People can study new energy resources for reducing use of fossil fuel. Another easy thing we can do is we have to reuse and recycle, not to use any product for just one time. Wangari Maathai said, “plastic bags clog waste dumps and blight the landscape in Kenya and other countries”(Maathai, 2005. Par.11) and “If we did not use these bags, and instead carried our shopping in more long-lasting and environmentally friendly containers, we could revitalize traditional industries like basket and cloth weaving.” (Maathai, 2005. par.12.) And other is like the “Greenbelt movement,” people have to plant a number of trees, and to reduce logging trees, because trees can reduce the CO2. These things can help us to prevent global warming.

Global warming is a very big problem that causes penguins to become extinct. Some people said global warming is a natural thing. They say we don’t have to care about it and we can do nothing, but global warming pushes penguins to go to extinction. In Science Daily an expert, Lyons said, “The data implies that there may be less food there as temperatures rise.”(Science Daily, 2007, par. 8) and in Science Daily an expert, Lyons also points to the fact “that all the global climate models predict a warming will decrease in sea ice along its margins.”(Science Daily, 2007, par.11). Therefore, we still have to find a way to reduce it becoming worse. We can do something like ban some artificial activity that will push penguins to die and to find some solution to prevent and reduce global warming to stop global warming from pushing penguins to die.

In conclusion, global warming is becoming a serious problem to cause penguins to go to becoming extinct. Because global warming is caused by many reasons, and we can prevent. Therefore, to protect penguins from global warming we can find a new home for penguins, we should ban some artificial activity that will push penguins to die, and we have to find some solution to prevent and reduce global warming and stop global warming from pushing penguins to die. In the end, people should help our adorable penguins survive so that everyone can see it forever.
