Summary

In this article, “Ancient Ethiopian city looks to future with tourism,” the author explains why and how the city Harar can become a center of tourism. In the past, Harar cues very old; it had a lot of old buildings and an old environment. And it has really bad surroundings like chronic water shortage and not a lot of hotels. But now this city has started to update its environment to be more modern. They have started to build new and modern buildings, do some advertising, and invest for this city. Finally, this city has a good beginning.

Reaction

After reading this article I revived some article about tourism before. Those articles talked about how to improve economics from tourism or wanting to develop their own tourism. In this article, like the last RRJ article I read, both talked about developing tourism, like changing and improving the environment or building a lot of new tourism facilities. But in this article it talks about an ancient Ethiopian city, so it sounds interesting. This city is kind of old and is a holy city for Islam so when I read about how it wants to develop its tourism I feel really it is so newfangled. But every country can have a chance and probability to make their tourism become good or successful. I want and hope that Harar’s tourism can become successful, because it is an old city and they have invested a lot. They pay a lot of mind in the project; so if this develops really successfully that will be very good for them and for this special city.
